Scott Fitzpatrick

Republican candidate for State Auditor, Missouri · Incumbent

Missouri State Auditor; CEO of MariCorp U.S. (marine construction company)

Scott Fitzpatrick, a Republican from Cassville, has been Missouri State Auditor since January 2023. Before that he was State Treasurer (2019–2023) and served in the Missouri House (2013–2019). He won the August 4, 2026 Republican primary and is running for a second term as auditor against Democrat Quentin Wilson and Libertarian Dustin Coffell.

Where Fitzpatrick stands

Role of the auditor's office
Argues the auditor's job is to independently assess state finances, warn policymakers about problems ahead, and root out waste, fraud and abuse.
State budget outlook
Warned that the state's General Revenue Fund is on track for a deficit of more than $1.7 billion in FY2027. Says he sees no prospect of a federal bailout and has urged executive leaders to make spending cuts now.
Auditing local governments
Pushed for 2024 legislation that gave his office more discretion to audit municipalities when a whistleblower complaint uncovers wrongdoing. Cites the city of Arnold as the first audit done under that authority.
Property assessments
Points to his office's audit of Jackson County's 2023 property assessments, which found problems with the county's assessment and appeals process.
Oversight of federal food program
Asked the USDA to validate his office's audit findings of weak controls in the state health department's Child and Adult Care Food Program. Says the department has ignored repeated recommendations.
