Anthony Hudson
Libertarian candidate for Governor / Lt. Governor, Michigan · Open seat
Truck driver and small business owner (Grand Blanc Township, Genesee County)
Anthony Hudson is a truck driver and small business owner from Grand Blanc Township. He ran in the 2024 Republican primary for a U.S. House seat, entered the 2026 governor's race as a Republican, and switched to the Libertarian Party in February 2026. The Libertarian Party nominated him for governor on June 28, 2026, with Beau Parmenter as his running mate, and he is on the November 3 ballot as the Libertarian nominee, although the state party disavowed his campaign in late September 2026.
Where Hudson stands
- Taxes and school choice
- His campaign website lists getting rid of property taxes and the state income tax as a priority.
- Size and accountability of government
- Proposes making the Michigan Legislature part-time with part-time pay. Says Lansing politicians have expanded government while taxpayers face rising costs and excessive regulations.
- Data centers
- Wants lawmakers to write rules for data centers, fine violators $1 million a day, and send that money to affected communities. Took part in an October 2026 Capitol protest against hyperscale data centers.
- Renewable energy / EVs
- Would repeal Public Act 233 of 2023, which gave the Public Service Commission siting authority over large renewable energy projects, and return that control to local governments. His website calls for removing solar and wind farms from state land.
- Auto insurance
- Proposes moving Michigan from no-fault to at-fault auto insurance.
- Constitutional freedoms
- Says he is running to protect constitutional freedoms. Argues that the comments that led the Libertarian Party to disavow him were protected by his First Amendment right to free speech.
