Where Marker stands

Federal debt and deficit
Calls the federal debt, which he puts at about $40 trillion, the biggest issue he would face in Washington. Says fixing the debt and deficit would help with affordability, the economy and taxes.
Social Security
Says stabilizing Social Security would be his first legislative priority, and says he has a plan to do it.
Border security and immigration
Supports a strongly secured border. Also supports a legal path for people to migrate to the U.S. that is not cumbersome or expensive.
Trump administration
Says he supports most of President Trump's policies. Argues the president lacks constitutional authority to impose tariffs, and says Congress should limit the president's power to wage war, including in Iran.
Energy and agriculture
Pledges to support the oil and gas industry and New Mexico's farmers and ranchers. Says rural New Mexico needs a senator who will push for economic development.
Data centers
Says data centers should be regulated like feedlots: kept away from towns, and not built over shallow water tables or in places where they could contaminate water or harm local resources.
Election security
Says the U.S. voting system is not completely hack-proof. Urges people to vote and not worry that their votes will be stolen, and expresses confidence in county clerks.
